On the Way to the Bel-Air
Monday, January 12th, 2009This week, we all head out to Los Angeles for our fifth annual awards presentation and cocktail reception. We moved the event from New York City to Los Angeles at the request of the Hotel Bel-Air. For years, the hotel has been hosting a reception for the West Coast winners of our annual survey. As the winner of the “Best Hotel in the United States” (for the fourth consecutive year), it seemed only fitting to switch the venue to Los Angeles and co-host this event with the hotel.
From my personal experience, I have to agree with our readers. The staff at the Hotel Bel-Air is always ready to serve you with professionalism and kindness. I feel like I am part of the family when I return home to the Hotel Bel-Air.
The catering team transforms the ballroom for us into whatever theme we are targeting. This year it will be Bangkok, and I am sure it will be an exotic treat for all the senses.
We are also stimulating the economy as we have guests arriving from all over the world to attend the event. Ten members of the Global Traveler team will be flying to Los Angeles, in first class on six different airlines, to attend the ceremonies; and they will be staying at eight different properties. We are taking this opportunity to recount their traveling experiences for the upcoming Luxury Book in April.
And lastly, the Philadelphia Eagles made the New York Giants eat humble pie yesterday. Shockingly, we have not heard a word from New Yorker Alexandra Young . . .
