Motor City
Monday, June 23rd, 2008Detroit (DTW) Airport has a lot to offer and the merger of Delta and Northwest will further boost this airport with world class service. I was in Detroit meeting with execs in the automotive industry. Lincoln is lauching a new luxury brand called MKS, which will target the buyers of Lexus, Infiniti and other like brands. Check out the brand here. It has a lot of the bells and whistles of brands like Audi, but with a sticker price in the 30’s.
I stayed at the convenient Westin Detroit Metropolitan Hotel, which is located right at the airport. As soon as you exit security, the hotel is right there in the terminal and it has its own security entrance to the terminal during peak hours. Westin is also opening and remodeling the Book Cadillac Hotel, which has tremendous history in downtown Detroit. The airport property is beautiful, with great restaurant venues, excellent staff and accommodations. I enjoyed my heavenly bed after a busy day traveling from LAX.
The best thing that can happen to Detroit is the merger of Delta and Northwest. Northwest, long known to be a carrier of last resort for business travelers, is an airline that has been stagnant for quite a while. The Delta purchase will improve service for the entire region - including Detroit!
