Four Seasons
Tuesday, June 10th, 2008Ok, who thought I was talking about luxurious hotels or restaurants? I actually want to talk about the seasons. I always said I have to live in a place with four seasons - winter, spring, summer or fall - but I would like to amend that statement now. Yes, I still want four seasons, but not summer in New York City, or any city with similar size buildings that trap the humidity like in New York.
We encountered our first heat wave this week, temperatures in the 90s with the humidity factor taking us into the 100 degree level and it’s awful. People are always surprised when I say I don’t like the summer. No, no, I don’t like NYC summers. Give me 90 degrees, a blue ocean and margaritas all day long - bring on the summer! But, sorry folks, NYC in the summer is the closest thing to hell I hope to ever experience.
Don’t believe me? Come on over then and bring a change of clothes cause once you walk outside you’ll have sweat through what you’re wearing. For some reason, in other parts of the world where it’s just as hot, or hotter year round, like Singapore, Hong Kong and even the Middle East, I can tolerate it (ok, not the Middle East in July or August). Maybe it’s because I just visit there and then leave, or get myself mentally prepared on the plane, but NY takes the gross factors for summers!
So, give me suggestions, please, on how to stay cool this summer!
