Travel - A World of Oppotunity
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008Working at Global Traveler, my colleagues and I have the great privilege to travel the country and the world. Is it work? Yes, but to me it is still a privilege and opportunity. An opportunity to see the world and meet new people. Learn new cultures. Understand what makes different people around the world tick and how people halfway around the world can be so similar. At GT, we call this Globility.
However, many people around the world do not have the means to travel and many people simply choose not to travel. Why they choose not to travel, I cannot answer. It could be a fear of flying or any number of reasons, but just think what a difference it could make if those who could left their hometowns or countries at least once in their lifetime. Would it make the world a better place? I believe so. Perhaps I’m optimistic to think that travel would help to eliminate their fears or stereotypes, or understand, despite different colors, religions or heritages people are still people around the world. Goals of finding love, providing for a family and looking for a good laugh every now and then transcend any border or race.
Anyway, with as much as I love travel, I am thankful to have the opportunity. People often ask where my favorite place is or which place was the worst to visit. My question to you is, if there is only one place in the world you could send someone who have never traveled before and has one chance to do so, where would it be?
