Star Watch

Living in New York, one can become very nonchalant about seeing photo shoots in the park and movie sets on the sidewalk. The paparazzi are always at the hotel next door to me, but as most locals have, I tend to become more annoyed with them than anything else. The people running these movie sets and paparazzi on the streets tend to think they own the streets. Many times I’ve been told where I can and can’t enter my apartment building. Nowadays, I just ignore them and go my own way because they have no right blocking residential streets and they are being just plain obnoxious!

The funniest circumstance I have found recently is at the hotel next door. I will admit, every now and then I ask the doorman who everyone is waiting for. Half the time the answer is no one! He said that once one person with a camera starts waiting around, others just follow and assume a celebrity will be coming out. Even though it sounds like I’m talking a big game, when I do see a celebrity, I tend to get impressed. Just 2 days ago there were tons of cameramen outside my neighboring hotel. I had to leave the sidewalk and walk into the street to get by, but as I did, I found myself next to Cameron Diaz and all her security. Like I said, I was impressed!

Tomorrow I am off with GT to the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. As I’ll be the tourist in this town, perhaps I’ll be more patient and keep my eye out for a celeb. If anyone has some tips on where to sip cocktails and people-gaze, please let me know!
