Holiday Parties

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Last Monday the Global Traveler staff descended upon world headquarters for our holiday party. We all had a great time and a very filling lunch at the Yardley Inn, the local hangout for those of us who regularly work out of the office here. We exchanged Pollyanna gifts and it gave everyone a chance to get together, relax and have fun. With all of us so scattered, it is nice to get together and let loose every once in while.

The subject of holiday parties came up again at lunch the other day. More specifically, a discussion of proper holiday party etiquette. It seems that the office holiday party is often the time when at least one employee decides to drink a bit too much, say something they later regret, or even make passes at the wrong person - like the spouse of your boss! Fran Gallagher even mentioned that one major NYC paper annually ran an article on how to behave at your work function.  It can be assumed that the holiday party will be the time for people to let loose; after all, everyone (for the most part) is in good spirits this time of year,  taking some time to enjoy themselves before the new year and the new workload roll around.

I have had three holiday parties this season, with another one tonight. So far, no craziness or inappropriateness has ensued, but they have been fun.  I’m sure you all have some interesting holiday party stories to tell. Hope you have enjoyed your holiday season and have let loose! Happy Holidays!
