An Affair to Remember
Tuesday, November 13th, 2007One thing that most people will agree on is that I am lacking in my knowledge of movies, especially the classics. Maybe it was because we never went to the movies when I was growing up or maybe it is because the film industry just never really interested me, but this weekend, while shopping at Borders Bookstore, there was a special on the movie An Affair to Remember and the romantic side of me got the better of me.
I decided to take the evening off. I shut off my phone and tuned into the world of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. It was an emotional evening, but one I strongly recommend to any man, or woman, to help them understand what romance, and the movies, used to be like.
What did I enjoy the most? I think it was, of course, the chemistry between Terry (Deborah Kerr) and Nickie (Cary Grant). I liked that Terry was traveling alone and I also enjoyed the scene with Nickie’s grandmother and the frustration of seeing two people not willing to swallow their pride because they loved each other so much. I’m sure most of you have seen this film, so please tell me your take on this movie.
I guess this blog is also a look into my softer side. So, those of you with any suggestions on other classic movies I should watch, please post them on my blog. Trust me - chances are I haven’t seen it!
