On the Road Again

Well, today I am off again! Tonight I will be leaving for Sicily on a press trip sponsored by Alitalia Airlines and The Italian Government Tourist Board. Between tomorrow and Wednesday, the trip will cover a lot of ground - from Palermo, to Agrigento and then finally to Taormina.

I have been to Italy before, but never to Sicily and it is a great country to visit. Having visited Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan, I have experienced a little bit of what a variety of Italian regions offer. The food is, of course, fantastic! And wandering around a city and suddenly happening upon something like the Colosseum is an unbelievable experience. But, people I have talked with recently keep on telling me that Sicily is like its own country, different from the rest of Italy. But, I am banking on fantastic food and amazing sites - apparently, the Greek ruins in Agrigento are among the most well preserved in the world.

Among seminars and siteseeing, we have a dinner planned with Lidia Bastianich, a famousĀ  chef known for her four restaurants and her PBS cooking show. She is going to lead the group through a typical Sicilian meal. My tastes in food are picky, but I am anxious to try all the foods Sicily offers - just like I did in India.

Well, that is all I have for this week - I’m anxious to share the details of the trip with you all next week. But, I have to get some work done before heading for JFK, so, until next week, CIAO!
