Virtual Food
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007In our July 24 eFlyer, we have a news item about ads that are appearing on US Airways domestic flights through next month. Here’s what one looks like:
I am all in favor of promoting New Orleans; it’s a shame to see one of America’s classic cities struggling so much. And I think the ad campaign is a great idea–if you’re on a flight to New Orleans, I think it would certainly make you want to go and find some genuine New Orleans-style cooking the minute you got off the plane.
Keep in mind that this image is what your tray table looks like when you fold it down. From a marketing perspective, it’s a great idea to contrast some great-looking “real food” with the bag of peanuts, expensive sandwich, or whatever you brown-bagged from home that is actually sitting on your tray table.
At the same time … Am I the only one who thinks this is cruel and unusual punishment for underfed travelers?
